Laying the foundation for total health

In some ways, one could say that Chiropractic care is a bit like building a house - certain things have to happen in a particular order for everything to stand strong and work together correctly. When building a house, if you tried to build your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually may even collapse. If you tried to build your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem. These concepts apply to your body as well, and Chiropractic care addresses many common reasons why people experience pain and other health issues. If something is not right with your body's foundation, than that needs to be addressed before true health can be achieved. With Chiropractic care, your body has to go through a particular order of care to repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases of Chiropractic care . . .

Phase 1: Initial Intensive Care

If you are in pain when you come into our Pacific Grove chiropractic office, our first objective is to help you reduce pain and start feeling better as soon as possible. Depending on the severity of the underlying condition which is causing your pain, it is typical for a patient to need chiropractic care or adjustments 2-3 times per week for 4-12 weeks to obtain relief and begin the Corrective Healing Process.

Phase 2: Rehabilitative Care

During the rehabilitative phase of chiropractic care, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, which helps prevent further injury or pain. The goal of rehabilitative or restorative chiropractic care is to help bring your body back to 100% functioning. It is typical to need chiropractic care or adjustments about 1-2 times per week for 6-12 weeks, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.

Phase 3: Stabilization/Wellness Care

Once your body has achieved a level of correction  and you are no longer experiencing back pain or other pain symptoms, it is important to come in for periodic chiropractic adjustments to avoid further problems in the future. Usually, this phase of chiropractic care only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals. We call this phase stabilization or wellness care because it is something that becomes a part of a healthy lifestyle. Studies have shown that regular chiropractic care can boost your immune system, improve the function and performance of your body as well as promote a positive psychological state and mood. Chiropractic care is much like exercising; in order to stay fit and healthy a regular regimen of both is required to maintain overall health and function.

Testimonials

I had been suffering with low back pain, decreased range of motion and mobility for 3-4 months. At a 7 out of 10 pain level, I was unable to enjoy most daily activities and hobbies. I saw Dr. Coleman's display at the Custom House Plaza and Ashley, his assistant, explained to me in detail all the tests they do at their office. I decided to give him a try and see if he could help me. After following his treatment recommendations I can say that I have 90% of my mobility and range of motion back and I am no longer suffering! Dr. Coleman treats my whole spine and doesn't just focus on one problem area; he is always trying to improve the function of my spine and body. I am glad I made the decision to try his office and I would highly recommend anyone who is having problems to come and see him; it is well worth the time!
